The 2019-20 campaign was a season of great promise and ultimate frustration for FC Utrecht. The Domstedelingen, consistently challenging the Eredivisie elite, finished 6th in a season ultimately curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Leading the charge was the dynamic winger Gyrano Kerk, whose 10 goals proved vital. The campaign's defining moment was the team's brilliant, undefeated run to the KNVB Cup Final, only to have the chance for major silverware tragically voided, marking a heartbreaking 'near-miss' and a defining, poignant chapter in the club's modern history.
